a work dedicated to the angry being inside our throat;
for the children who disrupt what we are telling ourselves is truth,
reminding us all to never forget where we come from.
Bless the Angry Child
pt 1.
You thought I was quiet??!! My energy speaks up, it is loud.
Have you ever seen an angry earth?
If you listen closely, you’ll hear her screams.
Just go ask the angry children, they’ll tell you.
………………………
……….Angry beings hold a special place in my heart……..
there is a grounding that exists in the belly of angry beings that we must listen to.
pt 2.
Powerhouse Baby, I know you’re tired.
Drink water, my love.
Your desert body is really an ocean.
Mother moon will catch you, it is time to let go,
You can rest now.
Obsidian Baby, your anger is sacred.
Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
Justice is birthed from truth
There’s a reason you refuse to listen,
Protect your spirit.
Black Sun Baby, remember to exhale.
Remember why you once sang
Why you once cried,
Why you once danced,
You do belong somewhere.
pt 3.
Did you know anger can be yellow too?
Did you know it is as loud as the crickets when the Black Sun comes out????
Bless you, Angry Child.

The interesting thing about being raised by mothers who didn’t mother you, is that they were also once children who weren’t mothered by their mothers and their mothers went through the same; the relationship is cyclical.
What has separated you from your mother is what oftentimes connects you
back to her story.
LALITA is a multimedia collage and painting, processing what it means to come from two mothers (my birth mother & my adoptive mother) who I had to detach from early on in my life.
This piece started with the contradicting questions that have risen from my relationship to these two people and ended with a figure conjoining our bodies.
Her belly reads "the separation was the reunion," symbolizing the mothering, protective spirit that has been built inside me that I often return to as I grieve.
